Divvy — Split Bills Fairly

Overview
Divvy ("the App") is a bill-splitting app that helps you split receipts with friends. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.
What Data We Collect
Receipt Images
When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to our server for AI-powered text extraction. The image is processed in real-time and is not stored permanently on our servers. Extracted text (item names, prices, totals) is stored in our database to power the app's splitting features.
Anonymous Analytics
We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app experience. This includes actions taken within the app (e.g., creating a group, scanning a receipt) but does not include any personally identifiable information. Analytics data is not linked to your identity.
Diagnostics
We collect anonymous crash reports and performance data to identify and fix bugs.
What We Do NOT Collect
- No personal accounts — Divvy does not require sign-up or login.
- No personally identifiable information (PII) — We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifiers.
- No cross-app tracking — We do not track you across other apps or websites. Divvy does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework because we do not track users.
- No contacts or address book data.
- No location data.
- No payment information — Settlement is handled entirely through third-party apps (Venmo, Cash App, iMessage). Divvy never processes payments.

Divvy uses the following third-party services:

Data Retention
- Receipt images: Processed in real-time and not stored on our servers after extraction.
- Extracted receipt data: Stored as long as the associated group exists in the app. Data is deleted when the group is deleted.
- Analytics data: Retained by Mixpanel per their standard retention policy.
- Device data: All app data stored on your device can be deleted by uninstalling the app.
Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and secure database access controls via Supabase.
Children's Privacy
Divvy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
