Divvy — Split Bills Fairly

Overview
Divvy ("the App") is a bill-splitting app that helps you scan a receipt, split it with friends, and settle up. This policy explains what data Divvy collects, why, who can see it, and how to remove it. It covers the iOS app and the web pages at splitwithdivvy.com, including the split links you send to friends.
What Data We Collect
Your account
Divvy requires an account. When you sign in (for example with Sign in with Apple), we store the account identifier, the email address your sign-in provider shares, and the name you give Divvy. We use these to keep your receipts and groups together across devices and to show your name to the people you split with.
Receipts
When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to our server for AI-powered text extraction. The image is processed in real time and is not stored permanently on our servers. The extracted text (merchant, item names, prices, tax, tip, totals, date) is stored in our database to power splitting. On supported devices you can choose on-device scanning in Settings, in which case the image never leaves your phone.
People you split with
Names you type for the people on a bill, and any contacts you create in Divvy, are stored with your account. If you add a contact's Venmo username, Cash App cashtag, or phone number so you can pay them, that is stored too. Importing names from your phone's address book is optional and happens only when you tap to allow it; Divvy copies the names (and, if you choose, a phone number) you select and never uploads your whole address book.
Your own payment handles (optional)
You can save your own Venmo username, Cash App cashtag, and/or phone number so friends can pay you back in one tap. These are optional. Anyone who opens a split link you send can see the handles you saved, on the web page and in the app, along with your name and the bill. You can edit or remove them at any time in Settings › Get paid. Divvy shows the handle and opens the other app; it never moves money.
Split links
When you send a split link, the people who open it can see the bill, the names on it, your name, and your saved payment handles. They choose their items without an account. We store which items each person chose and the name they joined under.
Usage analytics
We record how the app is used (for example: a receipt was scanned, a link was shared, a payment button was tapped) through Mixpanel. These events are tied to your account identifier so we can understand a user's journey; they do not include receipt contents, contact details, or payment handles.
Diagnostics
Crash reports and error reports go to Sentry, tagged with your account identifier only, so we can tell one affected user from many.
Subscriptions
Divvy Pro purchases are handled by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which receives your App Store transaction and an anonymous app user identifier. Divvy never sees your payment card.
Advertising measurement
To know whether our ads work, we attribute installs through Apple Search Ads and, only if you allow tracking when iOS asks, Meta's app events. If you decline, no cross-app identifier is shared.
What We Do NOT Collect
- No location data.
- No payment card or bank details. Settling up happens in Venmo, Cash App, or Apple Cash. Divvy never processes a payment.
- No stored receipt images on our servers after extraction.
- No whole address book. Only the people you pick, when you pick them.
- No cross-app tracking without your permission.

Data Retention and Deletion
- Receipt images: Processed in real time and not stored on our servers after extraction.
- Receipts, groups, people, contacts, and payment handles: Kept while your account exists. Deleting a receipt or group removes its data; removing a handle in Settings removes it from every link you have sent.
- Split-link activity: Kept with the receipt it belongs to. Stopping a link ends access for everyone who has it.
- Your account: Settings › Delete Account removes your account and the data above. Analytics and diagnostics are retained by Mixpanel and Sentry per their standard retention and are not linked back to a deleted account.
- Device data: Preferences stored on your device are removed when you uninstall the app.
Data Security
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Database access is restricted per account with row-level security, and split links expose only the one bill they were created for, for as long as the link is active.
Children's Privacy
Divvy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
